I’ve been trying out new lip color this month thanks to the latest BzzCampaign. When I first signed up to try a flipstick (blastflipstick is just too long, AMIRIGHT?), I thought, “Cool. Free makeup. Whatever.” I was excited to play with a new product, but I didn’t expect to discover anything remarkable.
From the moment the shiny CoverGirl BzzKit arrived, though, I knew I might be dealing with a formidable force in lip color.
Flipsticks are two-sided, featuring a creamy lip color on one side and — on the other — a light gloss for layering. CoverGirl boasts that their new formula means easy blending to create fun, custom looks. And guess what — it does. Weird.
Usually, if I want to get that super-glam look of gloss over lipstick, I have to pick a gloopy, sticky gloss formula that can hold its own against a darker color. With flipstick, the lighter gloss is smooth and thin, adding a shimmery layer to the creamy, darker shade without making my hair stick to my mouth (these things are important).
A greater — and more useful — surprise for me is the long-lasting pigment of the flipstick. In my crazy mommy morning routine, I usually stick to lip stains for a low-maintenance look. I was surprised to find that I can apply my favorite flipstick color before I take Ian to school and still have color on my lips when I pick him up in the afternoon.
For me, the only drawback to CoverGirl blastflipstick is that the ingredients aren’t particularly environmentally friendly. The Cosmetics Safety Database gives the product a big 7 out of 10 on their safety scale. These days I’m trying to make sure the cosmetics I buy are healthy for me AND the world around me, so I was disappointed in those results.
So are you ready to try a flipstick for yourself? One of my dear readers will receive a CoverGirl blastflipstick in Stunner, a fantastic hot pink/gold color duo. (Plus, if you know me in person, hit me up for a $2-off coupon as well!)
