When I was asked to participate in a Vegas style challenge, I had my doubts. I’m a mom who focuses on sustainable fashion, and the chasm between that world and the glitz of Las Vegas seems vast.
Should fairly made fashion be relegated to bohemian styles suitable only for yoga classes and music festivals? I think fashion that respects the consumer and the producer must be our way forward in all walks of life.
And perhaps that way forward goes through Las Vegas.
Earrings: Ten Thousand Villages | Bangles: Ten Thousand Villages | Dress: Mata Traders | Shoes: Fortress of Inca | Hat: Purse and Clutch | Tote: Purse and Clutch | Bikini: Esther Williams
My task was to style a day at the LEAD-certified Aria resort, so I imagined a weekend anniversary getaway with my husband.
I would start my morning at Jean Phillipe Patisserie, indulging in chocolate and pastries, before heading out for a day of shopping and people watching. A classic A-line dress from Mata Traders makes an elegant statement with sterling and raffia accessories. After a ridiculously sweet breakfast I would owe my husband some Thai food at lunch, so we would head to Lemongrass for noodles. After lunch comes naptime, of course, before a relaxing afternoon at the pool. I would pair my hat and tote from the morning with a USA-made Esther Williams suit great for swimming or lounging.
Cuff: Soko | Clutch: Chiapas Bazaar | Dress: People Tree | Wedges: Nisolo Shoes | Earrings: Made | Necklace: Hovey Lee
Nightime means it’s time for bolder style, so I’d start with a basic mini-dress from People Tree and add chunky wedges from Nisolo and brass accessories. A romatic Italian meal would await us at Sirio, and then we’d check out Circque du Soleil’s Zarkana to round out a day of fun.
I’ve never been to Las Vegas, so you guys have to weigh in — did I get it right? What would you change?
Never been to Nevada either…but nice selections. Can’t see how they would be wrong..anywhere.
