Earrings: Handmade Expressions via Thrive | Cami: Global Girlfriend |
Shirt: William Rast for Target

Alright, gang. My personal purpose for this series definitely is starting to kick in. I’m running out of fair trade items to feature, so as I’m doing my fall shopping I have extra motivation to make sure my wardrobe additions are ethically made.

I found these earrings at a shop in my neighborhood this week. My kids and I were on our way to the local farmers’ market when I spotted a sign advertising fair trade and organic products. I stepped into Thrive and was delighted to find beautiful, ethically made jewelry at crazy affordable prices. I’m so excited to have a new place in the neighborhood to shop! Before we left the store, the owner showed us his handmade beeswax candles and let each of my boys choose one for themselves.

So now it’s time for me to go off and do a bit of research for my next few posts, finding sustainable items that fit into my wardrobe and my budget. Last night I attended a clothing swap with some friends (a super-easy and super-fun way to shop a little more sustainably!). You’ll be seeing a couple of guest posts coming up, too — I’ve found some fair trade fashionistas, and I can’t wait to share their style!

Oh, and before I go, I’d love to encourage you guys to do some research on your own as we head into Halloween season. Check out Simple Mom’s post on fair trade chocolate and why it’s important.

Show me your fair trade and sustainable styles! Leave a link in the comments or hashtag an Instagram or Twitter pic with #fairfashionfri. P.S. – Super excited today to be linking up with Abby Leigh’s Dress for the Day.
