You guys, I totally don’t want to write a blog post tonight. I’m tired and grumpy. I haven’t been sleeping well (and, ah, I’ve been staying up a bit too late reading).
But I’ve found that blogging, like sleep and exercise, helps keep me sane. So here I am, tappity-tappity, here we go round the mulberry bush. Writing a post.
I’m feeling a bit down today. I found myself wondering why, and then I remembered that I’m watching the people of Downton go through World War I, and I’m re-reading Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. Not exactly light fare. It’s amazing how my cultural intake affects my mood. Clearly I need to add some Mister Rogers into the mix.
My cake! |
Remember that cake I was making a few weeks ago? It turned out well. I’m quite proud and look forward to practicing more.
I’m planning a big event for a friend this weekend, and my workaholic/perfectionistic nature means that I’m going a bit crazy. I’m delegating and simplifying and planning ahead, but as much as I try to do the right thing, the fact remains that I can’t change my crazy, detail-oriented personality. So I’m trying to accept that about myself. It helps that I am so super excited about this event. It’s gonna be fun. But not perfect (ha!).
I forgot to tell you guys last week that David has also taken to doing something cute and then yelling, “Ta Da!” Although sometimes it comes out “Da Ta!”, which is even better.
I dyed my hair again. Vocalpoint sent me a free box of Clairol Natural Instincts Semi-Permanent. It was easy to use, and I love the color. I will say compared to my salon treatments the Natural Instincts definitely dried out my hair a bit more. And I didn’t get the perk of chatting with my excellent stylist. But hey, it was free.
Remember how I lost my CamelBak bottle? I found it. In my kitchen cabinet. Sigh.
That’s all I got for this week, kids. The Pulitzer-worthy posts will have to wait.
Stay lovely, my friends.
