I love referral programs. They’re a win-win-win: My friend gets a discount, I get a credit, and a fantastic, ethical company gets a new customer.
October is Fair Trade Month, and I can’t link of a better way to promote fair trade than to spread the word about our favorite brands. Here are a few of my favorite fair fashion referral programs. (And yes, this post contains referral links!)
Everlane — Specializing in simple, high-quality wardrobe staples, Everlane has made a splash with their $15 t-shirts. Many of Everlane’s items are manufactured in the US, and the company strives for transparency in all of their factories and supply chains. Everlane currently offers a generous $25 credit if you refer a friend and they make a purchase.
Sseko Designs — Known for their versatile ribbon sandals and gorgeous leather bags, Sseko provides employment and scholarship opportunities for women in Uganda, Kenya, and Ethiopia. Use their referral links to send your friends a coupon for $15 off a $50 purchase. When your friends make a $50 or greater purchase, Sseko will send you a $15 gift card.
FashionABLE — Beloved for their beautiful scarves and totes, FashionABLE seeks to offer women in Ethiopia a sustainable way out of poverty through fair-wage employment opportunities. Send your friends a coupon for 10% off any FashionABLE products, and when they make a purchase you will receive $10 to spend with the company.
Nisolo — Nisolo’s shoes and leather accessories are hand-crafted by artisans in Peru. You can send a friend a 10% discount for their first Nisolo purchase. When they make a purchase of $50 or more, you get a $10 credit. Nisolo’s Harper Chukka boots are going to be essential this fall!
Modcloth — Any excuse for Modcloth, right? I love this company’s support for fair trade and made-in-the-USA brands like Mata Traders, People Tree, and Heart of Haute. Send your friends a coupon for $15 off $50, and when they make a purchase you’ll receive a $15 credit.
