A couple of days ago my friend Jaxn twittered a link to Spouse 2.0 Day. Based on the name, I first wondered if this was a holiday to celebrate polygamy or second marriages or something. To my delight, I found that it was something much, much better — a day to celebrate the long suffering spouses of entrepreneurs.

According to the Spouse 2.0 site, on this day entrepreneurs should:

  1. Buy your significant other a present in appreciation of all the the time you neglected them while running your start-up this year. They shouldn’t have to wait for Christmas to get something special!
  2. Post about your special gift, and the sacrifices your spouse has made on your blog, twitter or other self-publishing services.

Well, I’ve neglected the first suggestion so far, but I can at least blog my appreciation for all the work my spouse has done this year.

Paul, thanks so much for your support while I run ghia. I don’t know what I would have done without your help. Thank you:
1. For being my cheerleader always, and my constructive critic when needed.
2. For being on call 24-7 to answer SQL questions.
3. For being a great photographer.
4. For providing an endless supply of hugs.
5. For sacrificing your weekends for MY events. I know I get to make up that lost weekend during the week, and you don’t.
6. For bringing home a paycheck while I pursue a dream that isn’t making much money.
7. For being a pack mule as I drag you to various events.
8. For being patient while I try to find a good work/homelife balance.
9. For doing so many dishes.
10. For being my marketing guru.
11. For believing in me even when I don’t believe in myself.
12. For listening patiently to the minutiae over which I obsess. A lot.

I’m sure there is much, much more, but I know I could never express all you do for me.
You have even managed to increase your support and encouragement tenfold now that we are expecting a baby geek. Thank you!
