Spring and fall are GLORIOUS in Tennessee. Spring, especially, delivers a much-needed dose of warm sunshine with a dash of wildflower color mixed in.

That means we find some awesome ways to have fun around here, and one of our favorite family activities in Tennessee is the Tennessee Renaissance Festival.

Renaissance Time in Tennessee

About an hour south of Nashville, the Tennessee Renaissance Festival is where you’ll find plenty of family adventure — including impressive jousting tournaments, hilarious skits, and brilliant costumes. Read more about the festival over at L.A. Family Travel with Why the Renaissance Festival in Tennessee Is the Best Family Weekend.

If you’re ready to journey back in time and see some Renaissance fun, don’t delay! There’s only one festival weekend left this year.

Downtown Franklin

If you’re looking for small-town vibes, then visit historic Franklin, Tennessee. The city of Franklin is packed with history, including several well-known Civil War sights. It’s also a great place to find unique shops, take a farm tour, or go for a hike. Plus, the town is known for its seasonal festivals, like Dickens of a Christmas or the Pilgrimage Music Festival. The Nashville Zoo
The kid-friendly Nashville Zoo adds amazing, new features every year. Don’t miss the recently renovated playground. We always love seeing the tiger exhibit and the veterinary center.

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum
If you need to head indoors and avoid spring allergies, check out the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. My kids enjoyed the interactive recording booths and costume design games.

I can’t wait to dive into more family activities around Nashville once school is out. On my list: The National Museum of African American Music, waterfall hikes, kayaking, and some day trips in the area.
