Cable/satellite TV is going to be so dangerous for me. Now that we have a TV that gets good broadcast reception, I keep finding fascinating programs on NPT at ridiculous hours of the night. (More about the TV later.)
I still can’t have caffeine late at night. Even a small amount, like, say, the amount in chocolate cheesecake, keeps me awake at night. This has been true for over 25 years, yet I keep testing this theory again and again.
Do you put your hand over your heart during the National Anthem? Is that a 9/11 thing? I grew up putting my hand over my heart during The Pledge of Allegiance, but I always stood at attention with my hands by my side during The Star Spangled Banner. Now it seems to be a thing, like the flag lapel pin thing.
Nope, don’t do the hand-over-heart thing during the anthem. I vaguely remember a broo-hah-hah during the presidential race about Mr. Obama not doing it during the anthem. I remember thinking “what’s the big deal? you don’t have to.” Maybe I’m just misremembering.
I thought I remembered putting my hand over my heart for both. I usually don’t know the right way to do things…I just do what I want. However, I asked my mother-in-law and she said that she remembers the hand over the heart as a child as well as no hats. She was taught that in kindergarten. Maybe it’s a regional thing? But she’s from the west coast and I’m from Missouri. So that blows that idea. Is either really wrong. It’s mainly about respect, right?
