This guy just turned three. You probably already guessed that if you saw him lay down in the middle of the craft store last week, refusing to budge because he wanted to go home.
Yes, my easy-going second child is finally to the age that gives mommies gray hairs.
As hard as three can be, I’m enjoying seeing more and more of David’s emerging personality. He wants to be a “rabbit train man” when he grows up (sometimes this is augmented to “rabbit train man fireman race car driver.” He loves puzzles and quickly becomes absorbed by a stack of them.
David’s best friend is his brother, and while we try to spend time with other three-year-olds, it’s clear that for now, no one can measure up to Ian. While David often follows along in Ian’s schemes and games, he’ll make a strong and stubborn stand when something is non-negotiable. He’s also developed an impressive take-down strategy when Ian has a toy he wants (ahem, not that we encourage that….).
From the moment he wakes up making explosion noises to the nightly bedtime stalling, I’m thankful to have a wonderful, frustrating, loving, silly, three-year-old little dude.
