Is your wardrobe ready for spring? For me spring tends to be a time for cleaning out the closet. Trying to live sustainably often means making do with what I have, repurposing and repairing things in my closet before filling in the gaps with new clothing. Sometimes adding just a couple of key pieces for the season brings new life into everything else in my wardrobe.

I found myself in need of shoes for spring and was delighted to discover Oka B shoes through October Rebel. Oka Bs are made in the USA — AND you can wash them in your dishwasher (I recommend taking out the dishes first). Cute-but-washable shoes are perfect for April showers!

I’m also loving the new spring line from The Root Collective. Their peep-toe flats are lovely, fair trade, and reasonably priced (plus, get 10% off through March 16 by using the discount code “HAPPYSPRING”).

Pastels are hot this spring, and I’m wishing for a basic dress in this season’s hues. This made-in-the-USA dress from Modcloth might fit the bill, although as a mommy I would love to find a machine-washable version with pockets (I know, I know, one can’t have everything).

Full skirts are another trend this spring. Mata Traders’ spring line isn’t available online yet, but when it is I’m hoping to snatch up the skirt featured in this post. (See their full spring collection here!)

I also love this pleated midi skirt from Folk Like Us. I find myself gazing at it every few days; it might be coming to a closet near me sometime soon.

I included my favorite purse from Aura Que, a slouchy tee from Everlane, and some earrings from Hovey Lee to round out a look for spring.

Most of all, this shift to warmer weather has me wishing for a clothing swap. Sustainably refreshing my closet while hanging out with my closest friends is a great way to start a new season.
