I have some travels planned this fall, and I’ve been eyeing these posts with gorgeously curated travel totes, wishing I could upgrade my gear.
Happily, I don’t have to search far or spend a lot to create a travel kit to accompany me on my journeys. Sometimes the keys to sustainability lie close to home. Here’s what you’ll find in my travel bag this fall:
Fossil Purse — Nope, this fantastic purse isn’t fair trade, vegan, or recycled. It’s simply well-loved. I keep eyeing other totes and bags to replace it, but this purse has served me well for over four years. The size, shape, and worn-in patina are just what I need at this point in my life. Sometimes investing in a piece and keeping it around for years is a great sustainable choice.
Matr Boomie Scarf — My travels are taking me to warmer places, so I was planning to skip the scarf until I remembered the freezing cold climate of most airplanes. A good scarf gives me confidence and comfort while possibly serving as a blanket for airplane naps.
Thistle Farms Lip Balm — I bought this as a travel treat for myself. Airplane air is notoriously drying, and what a great way to combat it! I picked a vanilla citrus-scented balm, thinking it may serve as chapstick for my kiddos in a pinch. I love that this lip balm is made locally by women who have escaped drug addiction and prostitution.
Root Collective Flats — After walking my kids to school wearing these fairly made, handwoven shoes, I know they’ll hold up for a long day of travel. Bonus points for being easy to slip off my feet at security checkpoints.
Jammy Sammies — Y’all know I have young kids, so any trip would not be complete without the kid snacks. I love that these bars include whole grains, organic fruit, and protein-packed peanut butter to make a healthy snack on the go!
Do you have adventures planned for this fall? I’d love to hear about your must-haves for travel!
Yay for travels! I hope to read about them soon 🙂
And I love your comments about how a well-worn, well-loved item can be a good sustainable choice. For this reason, I’ve slowly began to fall in love with the regular things I already owned before I began buying fairly.
Thanks, Ashlee! I’m trying to cultivate contentment with my closet instead of envy. 🙂
