Ember Arts JewelryRecycled Paper NecklaceEarrings and Necklace: c/o Ember Arts (fair trade, recycled) | Skirt: Vintage | Shirt: Old Navy | Shoes: oka B. (made in the USA)

You guys know I love it when fair trade blends in seamlessly with one’s wardrobe. When I received this necklace and earring set from Ember Arts, I was struck by the clean lines and classic style.

Ember Arts works with women in Uganda to create safe, sustainable employment. The Ugandan partners run their workshop as a co-op and are responsible for day-to-day operations such as sourcing materials and paying rent, while Ember Arts purchases jewelry from the workshop at a fair price. A designer from Ember Arts works alongside the Ugandan women to develop beautiful pieces and to serve as a liasion between Uganda and the US.

My skirt is a vintage find from several years ago. I haven’t fit into this skirt since long before I had kids, so I’m definitely celebrating the re-entrance of the piece into my wardrobe.

I added my made-in-the-USA oka B. shoes to round out the look. These flats are great for the rainy autumn Nashville typically experiences. While they don’t quite make the comfort cut for a grocery trip, they are perfect for dashing to the car during school pick-ups.

This month brings a fun opportunity to learn more about fashion ethics. The Red Couch Book Club will be reading Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion as their September pick. This book has been on my “To Read” list for awhile, so I can’t wait to join the discussion on the book and the effects of fast fashion.

I’d love to see your fair fashion style! Tag a pic with #fairfashionfri or leave a link below. Have a great weekend!

I received jewelry from Ember Arts to review and photograph. No other compensation was provided for this piece, and all opinions are my own.
