Neighborhood Barre GiveawayWhen Neighborhood Barre Nashville invited me to try a few of their classes, my inner ballerina squealed with joy. I’d seen signs for trendy “barre” classes around town, but I wasn’t familiar with the method.

At my first class, studio owner Kelly welcomed the first-time visitors and helped us find our equipment and a place to set up. We dove straight into Neighborhood Barre’s fast-paced, intense workout. Barre workouts use isometric exercises, tiny movements that build major muscles. The best thing I’ve noticed about isometric workouts is that they really get your body burning calories. The second best thing is that no one will notice if you get lost during class because the movements are so subtle.

I had trouble keeping up at first, but following the instructor grew easier as I became more familiar with the exercises. After class I could tell my body was still working — despite eating a good breakfast, I was HUNGRY from all that calorie burning.

A Neighborhood Barre workout is a great idea for someone looking for serious toning. Headed to the beach or getting married? A few weeks of these classes will have you ready (in fact, one of my fellow barre newbies was a lovely bride preparing for her wedding). The studio seeks to be welcoming to everyone; while most of the clients I met were female, fit, and under 40, there were varying ages and fitness levels in the classes (plus a couple of brave guys).

Neighborhood Barre Nashville offers a wide variety of class times with ***free childcare*** during select workouts. That’s right, free childcare. I took my 4-year-old to my second class, and he had a blast playing with toys and the other kids. I loved that he was right around the corner from me.

And now the super-duper exciting part — Neighborhood Barre Nashville is offering free classes to Beyond the Fried readers! Just call, email, or stop in to the studio and mention this blog for a free one-week unlimited pass. AND one lucky duck reader will win an additional 3-class pass by entering below!

Still not sure? Check out Neighborhood Barre Nashville’s free Breaking Down the Barre class this Sunday at 1:30pm. It’s a great way to get introduced to terms, exercises, and techniques.
